Dove hunting in Texas is one of the major hunting social events of the early fall and one of the most anticipated opening seasons of the year. Hunters across the country appreciate the value-to-performance loads from RIO understanding the average dove limit may take several boxes of shells. RIO’s lineup includes loads for all conditions whether shooting morning dove up to the high-flying white-wing dove. The line includes weights in 12 ga from 1 oz to 1 ¼ oz and speeds from 1,250 fps to the fast TGHV at 1,330 fps. There are dove specific loads for all major hunting gauges for today’s hunter including 16 ga, 20 ga, 28 ga and the challenging .410.
Upland hunting signals the end of fall to most of the Midwest, as the weather cools and harvests begin. Pheasant hunters in South Dakota have a different need than the quail hunter of Georgia or the woodcock hunter of Minnesota, but one thing is constant; there are usually few opportunities to shoot, the shot is almost always a surprise, and you don’t want your ammo choice to let you down. Our product line begins with soft recoiling Classic Game loads for quail and chukar.
The TGHV loads provide a heavy 1 1/4 oz payload in 4 thru 6 to reach out a bit further. We developed the Royal Pheasant Copper line for the avid pheasant hunter which includes 12 ga, 20 ga, and 28 ga. The premium copper plated shot provides humane harvesting and less cripples.
Turkey hunters are some of the most passionate bird hunters in the country. A lot of time and effort goes into finding the right spot and honing the special skills needed to draw in a Tom close enough for the perfect shot. Rarely is the hunter given a second chance, and the first shot must count in order to put a bird on the table. The new Royal Turkey Buffered Copper load was designed for the best pattern possible when given that “one-shot-counts” situation. The 12 ga loads include both 3 inch and 3 ½ inch shell sizes, with up to two full ounces of shot in sizes from 4, 5 and 6 to provide a complete offering for most situations. Excellent value is provided with traditional lead shot loads as well as enhanced performance for tougher hunting situations with the new copper plated Royal Turkey Buffered Copper.
Large Game hunting with a shotgun brings out the best in a hunter. Many states have limited shotgun seasons; or limit hunting to only using a shotgun. Finding the right slug that groups well for a 100-yard or better shot is critical to hunting success. The MG Slug has proven to be effective and accurate for these special conditions. Special powders and velocities were developed to ensure the best performance with modern shotguns for larger game. The RBK12 features a Brenneke Slug with years of demonstrated results giving the hunter multiple options in finding the right slug for their shotgun and conditions.
Waterfowl hunting carries one of the longest traditions of shotgun hunting in the US going back to some of the first settlers. Whether on the Maryland coast for sea ducks, to Louisiana woodies in the swamp, Texas Teal or Pacific Coast Mallards each location has its traditions and unique hunting needs. RIO, being a global leader in non-toxic shotgun loads, excels in performance with the BlueSteel line. Powders and cartridge wads are specifically designed for the challenges of steel shot ensuring reliable performance and results. The BlueSteel line is one of the most comprehensive steel-shot lines on the market today. Certain close small duck hunting situations are perfect for a 2 ¾ inch 12 ga, 1 oz of 6 BlueSteel Shot at 1,325 fps; where for a high-flying Canadian may take a 3 ½ inch 12 ga, 1 9/16 oz payload of BBB at 1,300 fps. The options are complete in both 12 ga and 20 ga for an affordable, effective choice of steel loads for all waterfowl hunting.
When lead was banned for waterfowl hunting in the early ‘90s one of the first alternative loaders looked to for new shot was Bismuth. Right next to lead in the periodic table, it is almost as dense as lead and performed well on game without harming gun barrels like steel shot and some of the alternate polymer-metal loads. RIO’s Bismuth has been providing discerning waterfowl shooters an effective option since 2013. It’s especially beneficial to the smaller-gauge shotgun shooters that need a dense payload without resorting to the longer magnum shells or super-high velocities with corresponding magnum and super-high recoil. RIO’s Bismuth starts at .410 loads and includes 28 ga, 16 ga, 20 ga as well as 12 ga. Shot sizes are as small as 7, and as large as 3 with velocities between 1,175 fps for the .410 to a powerful 12 ga 3 inch 1 ¼ oz at 1,400 fps.
