As you can imagine, we are always busy pushing the cutting edge in research and development, as well as reaching out to the Law Enforcement community to help us evaluate and improve our products. Here we will strive to keep you posted on recent happening, new development and key events where we have made an appearance.
November 11, 2011 - Rio LE sponsors city police at SWAT Roundup
Rio Ammunition was pleased to have an opportunity to sponsor a team at the 2011 International SWAT Roundup held in Orlando, FL. Members of the City of Gainesville Police SWAT unit have been instrumental in helping Rio evaluate many lethal and less lethal shotgun cartridges over the past year. As our way of saying thanks, Rio covered much of the cost associated with sending the 8-man team to this prestigious competition. Said Kenton Green of Rio, "Gainesville PD has really stepped up and helped us out recently in some of our research and marketing efforts, donating time and human resources to our efforts. Helping them get to the [SWAT] Roundup was the least we could do."
The Roundup draws teams from all over the world to compete in many events including long and short range firearms, obstacle courses, time trials and team tactical drills. Gainesville SWAT placed 25 overall among teams from the US, Russian Federation, Kuwait, Bosnia and more. The overall winning team was team NASA based at the Kennedy Space Center.
